Beaumont West Recreation Site

Project Scope

• Site stripping and stockpiling over 30,000m³ of topsoil to be screened for landscaping purposes.
• Rough grading, including onsite common excavation of over 10,000m³ and import almost 30,000m³ of material for onsite placement and compaction.
• Construction of 7,200m² gravel parking lot.
• Installation of drainage culverts on 50 Avenue.
•  Installation of  approximately 1,200m of French drains for proper drainage.
• Surface preparation including installation of red shale for five ball diamond infields, totalling approximately 6,200m².
• Erection of 3,200m of chain link fence (of various heights) for all diamonds and off-leash dog park, and almost 600m of post and rail fence around gravel parking lot.
• Construction of approximately 1200m of gravel trails.
• Supply and install site furniture such as bleachers, benches, and waste receptacles.
• Electrical installation for site lighting and provision for future electrical features.
• Landscaping, including but not limited to, topsoiling over 81,000m² surface, seeding over 28,000m² surface, sodding over 53,000m² surface, and planting over 150 trees of various species around the diamonds, parking lot, and off-leash dog park.

Challenges

• Shortage of clay material onsite added significant time to the grading schedule to import the required fill.
• Last minute lighting addition for the gravel parking lot required careful coordination with crews working on adjacent infrastructure to minimize damage to work already completed.
