Project Scope
- Site stripping and stockpiling over 10,000m3 of topsoil at strategic onsite locations for landscaping purposes.
- Removal and dispose over 30,000m3 of unsuitable material from several wetlands.
- Import over 60,000m3 of clay material for placement and compaction.
- Onsite gravel parking lot and campground access road construction.
- Upgrade Miquelon Avenue and Range Road 263A to an all-weather gravel access.
- Subgrade preparation, including fine grading and compaction, of approximately 40,000m2 surface.
- Installation of over 1,200m of French drains for proper drainage.
- Surface preparation including installation of red shale for five ball diamonds.
- Erection of over 1,600m of chain link fence (of various heights).
- Construction of over 3,000m2 of limestone surface.
- Installation of new playground.
- Landscaping, including topsoiling, seeding, and sodding over 40,000m2 surface.
Challenges
- The Devon Field of Dreams is located in a low lying area surrounded by several wetlands, requiring tedious efforts to remove the wetland and backfill immediately to prevent recharging of the water in the excavated holes.
- The site was also bisected by an abandoned oil pipeline. While abandoned, Delta Valley still had to coordinate with the pipeline company to remove the line before our crews can complete the project.
