Project Scope
- First phase landscape construction of Polar Extremes quarter.
- Imported large boulders from Northwest Territories to mimic authentic artic geography.
- Landscaped interior exhibit and neighbouring storm water pond with Colorado river rock, native plant material, specialized soil, and coniferous mulch.
- Creation of artificial “Pingo” – earth-covered hills of ice found in the arctic and subarctic that acts as navigational aids and viewpoints for spotting caribou.
Challenges
- Successful implementation of designed elements to ensure the exhibit maintained an authentic arctic atmosphere for the inhabitants and visitors.
